Siddharth Bhavnani has been practising for over 18 years, having read law at the University of Leicester, UK. He is a seasoned transactions lawyer who advises investors (including funds, financial institutions and strategic players) and investee companies alike.

Siddharth has significant experience in advising on corporate advisory matters, particularly about foreign investment regulations, securities laws and employment laws. He is passionate about working on growth-stage financing mandates for clients, having led numerous equity investments and debt financings.

Siddharth also carries a wealth of experience in mandates relating to the hospitality sector; he represents several owners on management contract negotiations with renowned hotel brands and frequently advises a range of clients on M&A situations in the sector.

His experience of working closely with business teams gives him a strong grasp of commercial objectives that drive corporations, and of the need for legal risk management. His deep understanding of the deal-making process makes him pragmatic and solution-oriented. Siddharth was featured in India Business Law Journal’s 2022 list of future legal leaders.

Representative Experience
  • Advised prominent fintech player, BharatPe, on fund raising mandates valued in excess of USD 600 million from global marquee institutional investors. Also, advised on, and negotiated resolution for, disputes amongst shareholders of BharatPe.
  • Advised SAMHI Limited on strategic acquisition of assets, including the acquisition of a portfolio of 6 operating hotels with ~ 962 keys from Duet India Hotels.
  • Advised private equity fund, Carpediem Capital on deployment of funds, and exits, for various funds raised and managed by it, including the sale of Yaantra, an electronics repair & refurbishment company, to Flipkart.
  • Advised private equity fund, 360 One Asset on deployment of funds, including their Series B investment in Daily Objects.
  • Advised IHCL owned Taj Hotels on various hospitality mandates, including in connection with strategic acquisitions.
  • Advised owners on management contract negotiations with renowned hotel brands including Hyatt, Marriott, Oakwood, Avani, Oberoi, Accor, amongst others.
